When we’re planning a treatment like dental implant placement, it’s important to get as much information as possible. Our 3-D scanner is the latest generation on the market. This means that our patients are exposed to the absolute minimum amount of radiation necessary while we can maximize the information we receive.
Unlike traditional x-rays that produce a two-dimensional image of the face (and are useful for situations like diagnosing dental decay or infection), a 3-D scanner produces a three-dimensional digital image that Dr. Hayes can use to identify important anatomical features of your face to reduce the risk of surprises or other complications while precisely planning treatment.
Digital records offer a number of advantages over older paper systems. They don’t require physical storage, meaning we can optimize our office space to better serve our patients. Plus, they are easily retrievable so all the information we need about your care plan is at the tip of our fingers. When we need to communicate with your insurance or your primary dentist, it’s simple to send information electronically.
Digital records are all about improving the efficiency of your care and the security of your private health information.
Digital sensors not only provide us with highly detailed and precise images, they are also considerably more comfortable than traditional x-ray films – a feature our patients truly appreciate.
Patient safety is one of our top concerns, and that’s why we use digital x-rays.
Digital x-rays expose people to up to 80% less radiation than traditional film x-rays. Not only that, but digital x-rays don’t require storage space or chemicals to develop, which makes them much better for our environment, as well!
We can store digital x-rays right in your digital file, making them easily retrievable for fast reference. They can also be sent securely online to your insurance company and your general dentist when needed.
Because digital x-rays are displayed on a chairside monitor, it’s easy for Dr. Hayes to show you exactly what he sees, making you an active participant in your own care and helping you understand your procedure better so you know what to expect.
Dentists and other providers have been using safe and effective nitrous oxide as a sedative for over a century! This colorless and odorless gas is mixed with oxygen to produce a mild sedative effect that takes effect quickly to produce a calming and relaxing sensation.
Many patients know nitrous oxide by another name – laughing gas! While nitrous oxide won’t make you laugh uncontrollably, it can produce a mild euphoric effect that makes your appointment seem to fly by.
Side effects of nitrous oxide are extremely rare. Some people do experience mild nausea, but this quickly dissipates. One of the best features of nitrous oxide is the fact that the sedative effect wears off so quickly when the gas is stopped. Unlike other sedation techniques, you can safely drive yourself home and resume your normal level of activity after using nitrous oxide.
Just like your general dentist, Dr. Hayes wants to make sure he has all the information available before making any treatment recommendations or decisions. Panoramic x-rays produce an image of your entire mouth and help us identify areas of disease or damage so we can accurately plan your treatment with a high level of success.
