Five Things You Didn’t Know About Dr. Curtis Hayes
Posted By: admin
At Coal Creek Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center, we think great care starts on a foundation of personal relationships and trust. The more we get to know you, the better we can accommodate our services to fit your needs and expectations.
But what about the other way around? If you’re nervous about seeing an oral surgeon, it can help to get to know the person behind the medical gown and mask that’s performing your procedure. Here are a few highlights of Dr. Curtis Hayes’ personal and professional life that you may not be familiar with:
A Mentor in the US Air Force Reserves
Dr. Curtis Hayes has a strong history with the United States Air Force. Not only did he study at the USAF Academy, he worked as a dentist at Lackland AFB before going into oral surgery and becoming the Chief oral surgeon at Ramstein AFB. Throughout his career, he’s acted as a mentor for other oral surgeons in the military and civilian sectors. Dr. Hayes has a special place in his heart for taking care of our military members, veterans, and their families
An Advocate in America’s Opioid Crisis
It’s no secret that there’s an opioid problem in America. Most people are first exposed to narcotics after an oral surgery, such as wisdom tooth removal. Dr. Hayes has worked to lead a change throughout the dental and oral surgery community that limits the use of opioids and the narcotic prescriptions distributed by dentists throughout the United States. His research and publications have shown effective ways for dental providers to safely and gently care for their patients without exposing them to highly-addictive and dangerous drugs.
A Focus on the Lafayette, CO Community
Not everyone has the access to dental care that they need. Dr. Hayes has worked with organized dentistry outlets such as charities and privately sponsored events to help improve the oral health status of under-served and at-risk families throughout our Lafayette, CO community. In years past, he has also traveled internationally to volunteer his services in rural and 3rd world areas without oral surgery specialists.
He’s Been a Foster Parent
Dr. Hayes and his wife Lynn value their time with family. They’ve also undergone the exhaustive training and screening process of what’s required to become a foster parent. If you’ve considered opening your home to do the same, we can put you in touch with the right people to make it happen!
He Completed a Triathlon and Lived to Tell the Tale
Swimming, biking, and running back-to-back is harder than it sounds, no matter how far the distance is. Did you know that you’re not allowed to wear headphones to listen to music during a triathlon? It’s just as much a mental battle as a physical one!
