Coal Creek Oral Surgery Seasonal Favorites
As locals, Dr. Hayes and the team at Coal Creek Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center love this time of year. Whether you enjoy shopping late into the evening or just finding special memories to make with your family, Lafayette, Co has no shortage of holiday traditions. Here are a few of the things you need to be sure to check out over the course of the next several weeks:
November 24th – Shop Small Saturday
Love to shop on Black Friday? Shop Small Saturday is the next day (Saturday of Thanksgiving week.) While it’s popular here in Lafayette, it’s actually a nation-wide approach to stimulate local economies by shopping local. When you do, community businesses and individuals right here in Lafayette benefit and it’s a great way to support the neighborhood you live in. Plus, all of the tax dollars invested go back into our local parks, recreation, streets, etc. You can get a list of local participating businesses here: https://www.cityoflafayette.com/DocumentCenter/View/22764
November 30th – Santa Cop
Hosted by the Lafayette Police Department, the “Santa Cop” program is one that coordinates gift donations for local families in need. They primarily need donations for ages 7-15. You can find donation boxes throughout Lafayette, including the Library, City Hall, Recreation Center, and of course the police department!
December 2nd – Holiday Ornament Crafts
Open to adults and accompanied children ages 8 or older, this activity allows you to make holiday decorations from nature’s own supplies. Projects will include a milkweed mouse, willow star, and grass wreath. The cost is only $9 and space is limited. For more information, visit Lafayette Open Spaces or purchase tickets on Eventbrite.com. The event will run from 1-3pm in the afternoon at the Community Arts Center.
December 9th – A Homestead Christmas
What did Christmas used to look like over a century ago? Visit a turn of the century farmhouse and museum (plus snack on some hot cider and cookies) to see for yourself. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated! While you’re there, be sure to stay for performances by Erie High School Choral groups and Weld County Ramblers Blue Grass band.
December 9th – Family Outing on Coal Creek
Enjoy scenic nature walks along Coal Creek Trail in Lafayette. It’s recommended for ages 8 and up. Groups start at the trail entrance south of Ryan Elementary School.
December 27th– February 3rd – Christmas Tree Recycling
Lafayette resident can drop their Christmas trees off at the City Service Center to have their trees recycled into mulch, providing you with a safer alternative than burning them. Just be sure to have removed all ornaments and wires before dropping them off! Unfortunately, flocked trees cannot be recycled.
